Whether you're drawn to the world of Downton Abbey, captivated by history, or have a love of aviation and the history of flight, this open-air event is a wonderful opportunity to experience the spirit of 1945 in an unforgettable setting with the beautiful backdrop of Highclere Castle.
Step back in time for a truly unforgettable weekend as we commemorate 80 years since the end of World War II with a spectacular event celebrating ‘Victory in Europe Day’.

Discover the incredible stories of aviation in our History of Flight Tent, alongside thrilling flypasts scheduled throughout the day.*
For Downton Abbey Fans
With ‘Downton Abbey’ as your backdrop for the day, admire our special tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, highlighting the wit and charm of her iconic role in Downton Abbey, and celebrating her brilliant one-liners that captured the essence of the Crawley family.
Music and Dance
Relax and soak up the atmosphere as you listen to live 1940s music, including the spectacular ‘Alex Mendham and his Orchestra’ bringing the big band swing to life as well as the ‘Victory Swingers’ offering jive and swing lessons.

Be inspired by captivating talks and fascinating stories from historians and special guests.
For the little ones
Young wartime heroes can dive into adventure with a host of exciting activities! From navigating the obstacle course to the bouncy castle, there’s plenty to keep them entertained. There will be colouring in, fun first aid activities and talks on D-Days in the war tents.
Living History Reenactors
Step back into wartime Britain as reenactors bring the 1940s to life.
From Land Girls to front-line soldiers, explore authentic encampments, hear powerful stories, and experience what daily life was really like during WWII.
Meet the Camels
Come and greet our two dromedary camels, special guests for the weekend!
Vintage Vehicles
Take a stroll around the Castle and admire a stunning collection of classic vehicles, which are a timeless tribute to motoring history.
Pop Up Hair Salon
Treat yourself to a glamorous 1940s makeover.
Let our expert stylists create perfect pin curls, polished victory rolls, and give you a look straight out of the golden age.

We cannot be held responsible for events outside of our control that may prevent planned entertainment and displays taking place and the photos on this page only reflect the theme.
The entertainment will be scheduled throughout the day. All ticketholders are welcome onsite between 9:00am and 5.30pm.
You are welcome to visit the Gardens, Tearooms and Gift Shop throughout the day. The Gardens, Tearooms and Gift Shop will close at 5:00pm and the Park gates will close promptly at 5:30pm.
Our Tearooms will be open throughout the day offering a delicious selection of hot and cold food and drinks and, in addition, we will have our Highclere Castle Gin Cocktail Bar! There will also be food outlets serving pizza, fish and chips and crepes!
Castle Tours:
Please note that these tickets are for the outdoor event only and do not include entry to the Castle.
If you'd like to tour the Castle during your visit, there may be an opportunity to upgrade on the day, subject to availability. While we cannot guarantee access, a limited number of tickets may be available, with the upgrade fee being donated to the charities supported by the event. Please enquire with a member of our team on the day.
