• Signed copy of Lady Carnarvon’s book “Lady Almina and the real Downton Abbey”

We are delighted to invite you to join us for a fascinating tour through Highclere’s State Rooms and Galleried Bedrooms. Travel back in time at the Real Downton Abbey through an exhibition of fashion and style from the early 20^th Century.  From dresses to coats, upstairs to downstairs, we will be displaying a handpicked selection from the Robing Room in the Great Tower above the Castle.

The tour then continues into the Castle cellars to explore the Egyptian Exhibition which celebrates Lord Carnarvon’s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the richest pharaoh’s tomb ever found.  

Following your tour, head to the Coach House Tearooms to enjoy a selection of complimentary refreshments including homemade soup, finger sandwiches, quiche and delicious mini cakes. We are able to offer a Vegetarian or Gluten-Free option for these tours, please email [email protected] at least two weeks in advance of your visit to reserve. Please note, we cannot guarantee that refreshments served are either Dairy-Free or Nut-Free. 

Your tour will commence promptly at the time stated on your tickets, please make your way to the front door of the Castle as follows:

Morning guided Tours begin at 10:30am
(Gather by the Castle front door at 10.20am)

Afternoon guided Tours begin at 1:30pm
(Gather by the Castle front door at 1.20pm)

If you choose the afternoon tour, please do arrive an hour early to walk round the Gardens.  If you choose the morning tour, please do take the time to enjoy the Gardens after the tour.

Your signed book will be available for collection from the Castle Gift Shop.  Please do not forget to collect this during your visit, as we cannot post this on.

Carer tickets (to accompany a disabled ticketholder) and Child tickets (4-16 years) are available at £85.

The dress code for the event is smart/casual. Please wear sensible footwear for the Gardens.

Please note, the gates to the Castle and Grounds close promptly at 4pm as dusk is still early at this time of year.
