Valentine's Champagne & Canapés Reception. Saturday 15th Feb 2025

St. Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day of the year so why not surprise your loved one and celebrate Valentine’s Evening at “the Real Downton Abbey”?

Enjoy Champagne and canapés throughout this romantic evening as you tour the Castle.  Explore the State Rooms at your own pace, including the infamous Library, the beautiful Drawing Room and our Music Room with Napoleon’s desk to name a few. You will also have the chance to discover our Egyptian Exhibition in the cellars.

We will have a variety of canapés to suit all tastes, including vegetarian options served throughout the evening. (Please note, we are unable to accommodate additional dietary requests for this event).

See behind the scenes of the many iconic moments of the film and TV series Downton Abbey including where Matthew proposed to Mary.

You will also have the opportunity to go back in time in our Egyptian Exhibition. Housed in the Castle’s atmospheric cellars, this tells the story of the discovery of  the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922 by the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter.  Castle Guides will be on hand throughout the evening to answer any questions you may have.
